Program Description
The Nashua Panthers Youth Hockey Association (NPYHA) is an organization that has been dedicated to the youth of Southern New Hampshire and Northern Massachusetts since 1982. Today's membership includes over 380 boys and girls from the age of 6 through 17 comprising 28 youth hockey teams. The NPYHA is governed by USA Hockey, Inc. (www.usahockey.com) and shares in its’ mission to promote hockey in America and provide the best possible experience for all players. The home ice for the Nashua Panthers includes both Skate 3 in Tyngsboro, MA and the Conway Arena in Nashua, NH.
NPYHA offers the following programs:
The Nashua Panthers Town division is the next progression after a player has completed a learn to play hockey program. This division consists of various levels of play from the Mite Level to the Midgets. Within each level, there can be several teams. This is a travel program that offers more ice time, local practices, and a mix of home and away games. Every team plays in 2 different leagues, which has included Dual State, Valley League and/or Granite State. The increased ice time, advanced instruction and inter-league competition allows players to enhance their skills more rapidly. There are on average two practices and two games per week. Interested players must register and then try out for their team assignments. Try outs are held in late March/Early April.
The Pro Ambitions Panther Selects is for the child who wants to play hockey at a higher level. The Select Program is built on a comprehensive building block curriculum designed by Jeff Serowik, of Pro Ambitions Hockey Camps and former Pittsburgh Penguin. This program offers the following:
- One week, Summer/Pre-Season training camp that meets for two hours of on ice and two hours of off ice each day.
- Full 30-week season; two-league play. Midget Splits play a 12-week season in only one league.
- Full ice practice and a skills session with Jeff every week.
- Three half-ice practice sessions each month
Interested players must sign-up and try out for this program. Try outs are held in March.
Girls Ice Hockey Programs
The Nashua Panthers will have a Girls Travel Team division. Teams will be offered in the U10, U12 and U14 category. Teams will have two practices a week and will participate in two leagues.
We will also be offering a U19 split season team.( September -November ) This team will receive a weekly practice and paticipate in one league.
Goaltender Development
We also offer a GOALIE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM for goalies of all levels. Mike Geragosian, current Goalie Coach at Hockey East’s Boston University as well as Director of Goaltending for USA Hockey, provides weekly goaltending clinics for the Panthers. Mike, a goaltender himself, and a U-Lowell Hall of Famer, continues to produce top level collegiate as well as NHL level goaltenders. His expertise on the ice and his commitment to our players shows in their improvement over the season.
Player Development Program
And let’s not forget our Player Development Program for all Panther skaters. Jeff Serowik, owner of Pro Ambitions Hockey Camps and a former NHL player, worked with a team of Panther Coaches to help create the Coaches Player Development Handbook. All coaches refer to this book when creating their on-ice practices. Criteria has been established on what each player at each level should learn at a minimum and Jeff has taken it one step further. All of our teams skate with Jeff two times a month in an effort to improve their skating and playing abilities.
From Mike Geragosian of our Goalie Development Program to Jeff Serowik of our Player Development Program to our exemplary coaching staff to our dedicated volunteers.
